The Google Pixel 6 series is finally here. Following months of leaks and rumours, the company’s flagship smartphone series is making its way to Ireland. This is the first smartphone from Google to feature the company’s own chipset, which allows for it to pack it full of AI features which are part of what made last year’s Pixel 5 so great. Alongside Google Tensor, both devices also come preloaded with the latest and greatest version of Android — Android 12.
Google Pixel 6 Pro and the Google Pixel 6
The Google Pixel 6 Pro has everything you need in a smartphone. A super-fast chipset, a 120Hz 1440p display, and all of Google’s AI smarts included. It has face unlock, fingerprint unlock, dual speakers, and 12GB of RAM. The camera experience isn’t forgotten about either; the Pro variant has the same 50MP primary camera as the regular variant, but it also packs a 48MP telephoto for zoomed-in shots.
It gets even better, too. The Pro has a 5,000 mAh battery, 30W fast charging, and 21W wireless charging via the newly-announced Pixel Stand, This is the best Google phone yet, and the company has left nothing to improve, at least as per the spec sheet.
The regular variant of the device, in contrast, has a few changes, though none too severe. It has a slightly downgraded display (90Hz and 1080p), no telephoto camera, and a 4,600 mAh battery instead. The display is also flat, with slightly thicker bezels surrounding it than the Pro variant.
Both devices come with five years of updates.
