For those of you who may have been excited by the prospect of the Razer Phone 2 coming to Ireland, we have some good news for you. The device has just popped up on Three’s website where you can pre-register your interest. While that in itself is not confirmation of a launch anytime soon, the little blurb at the bottom certainly is. The original Razer Phone launched in Ireland through Three, so it stands to reason that its successor will as well.
This is a similar page to what appeared for Xiaomi devices only a few days before launch. While we don’t necessarily think that the Razer Phone 2’s launch is mere days away, that coupled with the launch year being 2018 does make it appear that we’ll be seeing it sooner rather than later. We don’t know anything about official accessories, but we can assume that, at the very least, you’ll be able to get the really cool wireless charging pad for the Razer Phone 2 somewhere.
The Razer Phone 2 is a gaming phone, but it’s certainly worth picking up if you’re looking for a high-powered device for mobile gaming or emulation. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and 8GB of RAM, you’ll have no problem running nearly any game that’s out today on it. The beauty of this particular device comes from its display, however, as it runs at a crisp 120Hz. That’s a refresh rate double that of most conventional smartphones, and it’s completely noticeable even in day to day usage.
We’re not sure what the Razer Phone 2 will retail at when it does launch in Ireland. It starts at $799 in the US, so it’s entirely possible that we’ll see it start at €799 (or even more) over here. It’s a smartphone aimed at gamers, but it’s not just that. If you’re looking at the flagship Snapdragon 845 and the amount of RAM, there are certainly cheaper options out there (such as the Pocophone). If you want a premium device with booming speakers and a silky smooth screen refresh rate, then it might be worth taking a look at the Razer Phone 2.
