An Post’s “Community Focus” includes making postage free to care homes

an post community focus page

With COVID-19 numbers on the rise, care homes have begun to impose restrictions on visitations again. With the status of Christmas an uncertainty, it’s unclear when many of us may get to see some of our loved ones again. That’s why An Post has made postage to all nursing and care homes nationwide completely free until January 31st, 2021.

To avail of this free postage, simply write “FREEPOST” where the stamp would normally go. An Post will carry all cards, letters, large envelopes, and packets weighing up to 2KG without a postage stamp to a nursing or care home free of charge. They can be sent from post offices or post boxes, and it’s a perfect way to send Christmas gifts and cards to loved ones who you may be unable to see currently. It will be available from October 19th, and senders need to ensure that they provide a return address too.

An Post also announced a free newspaper delivery service for the elderly and vulnerable, along with a free mail collection for the elderly and vulnerable too. An Post staff will also make personal check-ins with the elderly to inquire if they are in need of any support or assistance. Finally, with every purchase of a #SendLove stamp booklet, you’ll get two free stamps as well. All of these are a part of An Post’s new community focus.
