OneTapLAN V, Ireland’s CS:GO LAN tournament, possibly taking place in Feburary

OneTapLAN, the popular Irish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament organisers, have hinted at a 5th generation of their much-loved event. The One Tap LAN twitter tweeted 2 days ago, looking for people expressing interest in their last-minute event in Belfast. The preliminary date is February 9th and 10th, in the University of Ulster, Jordanstown, Belfast. In August of last year, One Tap LAN 4 saw 9 teams competing head-to-head over the course of 2 days, in a double elimination format. The Irish team “Shlugs”, comprised of 4 Irish players and one Latvian player, took the 1st place trophy after an intense battle against “Rhaeks”.

For those unfamiliar, a LAN tournament is a gaming tournament in which players compete in a video game in one central location, often for money. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is one such game, but its certainly not as popular in Ireland as the likes of Fortnite and Overwatch, where the opposite is true on an international level. Last year’s event had a prize pool of £1350, with first place taking home £1000 of that for the team. The event was a huge success all in all and has been for years previous. The Irish Counter-Strike scene is constantly growing, with new players entering and older players making a return. This should make OneTapLAN V the most competitive Irish Counter-Strike LAN yet! We hope to see a lot of new faces, and plenty of returning ones present.

You can find the sign-up form below if you’re interested in getting a team involved. Anybody of any skill level can play, and it’s always a fun experience even if you expect not to do well. Stay tuned for more information regarding the event as it becomes available.
